Former Board President

I had the pleasure of working with Kim Dellinger as a board member during much of her tenure as Executive Director of Bacon Street Youth and Family Services. Throughout this time, I was continually impressed by Kim’s unwavering dedication and leadership. Kim consistently prioritized empowering youth and families, and she was a true champion for her staff and the broader community. Her commitment to partnership development led to lasting collaborations and expanded outreach, resulting in an important positive impact on those we served.

Kim’s strategic approach and ability to inspire those around her made a significant difference to the organization. I highly recommend Kim to any organization seeking a leader with passion, integrity, and a proven track record of making a meaningful difference in the community.

The interactive poverty simulation [...] was especially powerful. Making real-life decisions in that scenario really helped put into perspective the difficult choices families living in poverty face every day. The session was inspiring and motivating, and it definitely encouraged me to think about how I can become more involved in supporting our community.

I [...] thought the PlaySpent exercise was very good, making you think about choices and the ramifications. I left the day feeling there is a lot to do to help and motivated to get started to do what I can.

The spending activity was great – very sobering! It was a good way to collaborate with another CLS classmate and learn “first-hand” the struggles people on the margins face, and how difficult it can be to pull yourself/your family out of poverty.
